Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
