19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial professional victory, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
